“While we have the gift of life, it seems to me the only tragedy is to allow part of us to die – whether it is our spirit, our creativity or our glorious uniqueness.”
Gilda Radner
In 2007 we found ourselves, strangers at the time, on an airplane to Mount Madonna Institute in California to take a week long Mandala Facilitator Certification. That week, and countless coffees later, convinced us that we were meant to take our love of creativity, passion for art supplies, and training as wellness educators out of our studios and into the world. Women NEED creativity. And connection. And we, as artists and teachers, moms and entrepreneurs are uniquely qualified to offer inspirational, aha-producing opportunities for women to explore their (usually mostly buried) natural creativity. We know first hand the power of creative exploration as a tool for personal insight and for renewing and balancing our energy. Creativity has been a lifeline for both of us personally and for hundreds of people we’ve worked with from small intimate workshops for women to large corporate teams.
After 6 years of monthly Wine, Women and a Paintbrush events, we know for sure that this work makes a difference. It’s transformative and healing at best, and, at the very least, fun, an opportunity for much needed connection, and a guaranteed break from the daily routines and responsibilities in our lives. If you come with an open mind, an open heart, and a willingness to experiment and play, we will provide a nurturing environment, art materials galore, a group of glorious women, and a project that is sure to inspire. 3 hours of Wine, Women and a Paintbrush will leave you rested, restored, energized and excited about you – just you – the one that you might have forgotten about.
We meet monthly, in Calgary and Shawnigan Lake, in lovely, creative spaces that you’ll instantly feel at home in. We provide everything you need – art supplies, wine and tea, snacks, and inspiration. You just show up - ready to dive in!
You might be worried that “you’re not creative enough” or that “you can’t even draw a stick man” – we’ve heard that many times. Or you might think that taking time to be creative is “selfish”. Did you know that creativity is connected to wellbeing, happiness, flexibility, and the ability to solve problems? And that ultimately, we have more to offer others when we take good care of ourselves? Or maybe you want to come but don’t know anybody? Not to worry, many women come on their own and find themselves thrilled that they are surrounded by women just like themselves – instant friends.
So what do you need? Inspiration, downtime, connection, passion? To be actively engaged in living a full, meaningful and creative life? Some fun? An environment that supports the you you want to be? When you join us, you will find all that.
